A graduate of the University of Queensland, (Music Performance M.Mus.), Ruth studied and performed during seven years in Europe. Her popular method Enjoy Playing the Clarinet (Oxford University Press) has sold 23,000 copies world-wide is listed on the Australian Music Examinations Board syllabus and she was Editorial Consultant for the AMEB Clarinet Grade Books (Allans Publishing).

Ruth’s teaching and music examining experience has led to publication of ten books in the performance arts fields; her particular passion and expertise develops performance confidence for those who present in public, whether through words or music.

Since publication of her books, Ruth has developed a busy career as a professional speaker. She has performed and presented Professional Development and student workshops extensively in Europe (speaking German, French and Swedish) and Australia at numerous universities (including the Victorian College for the Arts, University of Queensland, Griffith University, USQ); and at leading schools across Australia, as well as in the corporate and business fields.

Ruth was a faculty member of Lutheran Summer Music Program, Minneapolis USA in 2000 and 2001, where her seminars were repeated by popular demand. Her teaching experience spans tertiary, secondary and primary education including 15 years Adjunct Lecturer in clarinet and Pedagogy at Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University and adjunct teaching in Sweden, France, Germany and England. She is an experienced adjudicator and has examined for the Australian Music Examinations Board during the past 15 years.
