 The heritage of JUPITER began in 1930 when KHS International, its parent corporation, opened as an educational products company in Taipei, Taiwan. The letters KHS stand for "Kung Hsue She" meaning "a company helping schools and culture". This simple definition still represents the primary goal of the JUPITER brand. In those early years, KHS distributed as well as produced a variety of supplies for education including those for music training. By 1980, KHS had evolved into a full-scale musical instrument manufacturer and planning began for producing a complete line of wind instruments and percussion. Today, with modern factories in four countries, JUPITER is one of only a few major full line brands being produced in their own factories. JUPITER has its own distribution center and warranty station in the U.S. located on a seven acre facility in Austin, Texas. The ROSS mallet instrument factory, a subsidiary of JUPITER, is located in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. The JUPITER brand is handled by leading music retailers in every major city around the world. Touring performers and school bands taking overseas trips will find JUPITER distributors and warranty stations located in every major country, assuring better availability for parts and service. All Jupiter instruments feature a high quality durable finish. Each instrument goes through a multiple step process that ends with hand finishing and polishing. Metal instruments receive a special ultrasonic cleaning to ensure surfaces are free of residue that could be harmful to the plating or lacquer process.Each Jupiter instrument is personally inspected and play tested by technicians prior to leaving our factory.
