Catherine Burton completed her Masters degree in 2002 at the Conservatorium of Music - Griffith University, studying under Floyd Williams.  Previously having completing her Bachelor of Music with First Class Honors at Victoria University of Wellington, she obtained an orchestral position with Wellington Sinfonia Orchestra. 

In 1999, she was awarded a Rotary Scholarship to perform with the CBS Orchestra as principal clarinettist for their millennium tour through the Middle East and Europe.

On returning to New Zealand, Catherine was granted leave from Wellington Sinfonia to further her tertiary study in Australia.

She has enjoyed much success performing as Principal Clarinettist in the New Zealand National Youth Orchestra, Wellington Youth Orchestra and was invited as soloist to perform with the Victoria University Orchestra.

Since moving to Brisbane, she has performed as Principal clarinettist in the Conservatorium Orchestra and led the Conservatorium Wind Symphony as Concert Master.  In 2002 Catherine competed in the Queensland Clarinet and Saxophone Competition, winning first place in the Open Clarinet Section.  After a successful audition she was awarded a bursary for the Australian National Academy of Music Advanced Master Class 2002.
