Spanish born bassoonist and
composer Óscar Garrido combined his early classical
training with activities as a bassist in various rock bands. He
went on to study bassoon and composition in Germany, where he performed
with numerous professional orchestras and ensembles such as the Basel
Sinfoniette, Ensemble SurPlus and founded ensemble chronophonie, a
specialist ensemble for contemporary art music.
His works as a composer range from
chamber to orchestral music, written both for professional new music
ensembles and for community or school orchestras and have been played throughout
Europe by world renowned ensembles such as ensemble recherche and the Tiroler Ensemble fuer Neue
Musik.
Oscar's teaching style incorporates his love of
a wide range of musical styles and encourages improvisation
and experimentation in order to learn the bassoon.
