| Don's musical career began
early. He began playing trumpet at the age of four and trombone at
six. With musical parents, Donald and his brothers were brought up in
and
around Jazz festivals and gigs. With his brothers in tow, Small Change
Aussie
Band began playing in and around Sydney's Circular Quay. This band went
on
to gig with some of the greatest names in Australian music, such as
John
Farhnam, Marcia Hines, James Morrison, and James Blundell. Probably my
career
highlight was making a videoclip with the Eurythmics. Don moved to Melbourne in 1998, to pursue a career in the instrument repair business. Since then Don has applied his talents to working with the care and repair of all variety of instruments at Brass n Woodwind. But wait, there's more.....He's one of the top call trombone players in Melbourne. Working all over town many nights a week, Don's mastery of the instrument invites a new level in hot improvisation. He has recently toured Japan, California and New Zealand as well as keeping up with local festivals such as Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and Wangaratta International. Don plays in Virus and Fireworks regularly around Melbourne. He has 3 CD's available. A Fitter and Turner by trade, Don's keen eye and precision capabilities make him a valuable asset to Brass n Woodwind, and his careful knowledge of musical instruments make him a design engineer and musical instrument technician of the highest calibre. |
